"Ventilation in Cardiac Arrest: The future is now".
In Europe, sudden death makes approximately 600 thousand victims a year. Guidelines exist and are developed by the International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR).
In the latest edition in 2015, only one page out of 300 was dedicated to ventilation and mainly to how to control the airways instead of describing the best modalities in how to ventilate. So many questions remain unanswered on how to achieve an adequate and good quality ventilation without having a real-time feedback. How can we be sure of insufflating around 400 ml every time a healthcare worker squeezes the bag? How can we measure the leaks? How can we be sure not to hyperventilate our patients?
