In this session angioedema (Qunickes edema) will be broadly discussed. Angioedema is a severe and potential life-threatening symptom, which all emergency personnel should be acquainted with.
The causes are many, i.e. pharmaceuticals, allergies, hereditary angioedema, idiopathic.
The focus will be on differentiating between histaminergic and bradykinergic angioedema since the treatment algorithms vary greatly. Airway management will also be discussed briefly including instructions on correct performance of an emergency tracheostomy in children and adults.
