Conference about SDG 8

Decent work and economic growth

Poverty, corruption and lack of democracy. These are some of the challenges that the international community must address by changing the conditions for growth and creating decent jobs and working conditions. No country can handle this task alone.

In Denmark, trade unions and employers have joined forces to contribute to SDG 8 - sustainable growth and decent work - in a number of developing countries.

On November 20, 2018, the Danish Labour Market Consortium addressed some of the efforts that contribute to achieving SDG 8.

More than 260 participants from business, labour movement, civil society, ministries and public institutions, met in Copenhagen to discuss how social partners can contribute to sustainable development.

The morning saw presentations from the Danish Minister for Development cooperation, the International Labour Organisation, Danish business, as well as representatives from Danish and foreign trade unions and employers' associations. In the afternoon, the participants had the opportunity to contribute to the debates on twelve thematic stands.
